IPOB to security agencies: Stop dishing out falsehood,  killings of Biafra youths.

Following the incessant kidnappings, harrasments, arrests,  and indiscriminate killings of Biafrans in the recent times, we the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by our liberator and indefatigable leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wish to

 

The Indegenous People of Biafra has warned Nigeria security agencies operating in Biafra land to desist from provocative killings of innocent Biafran youths who they tag operatives of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, and IPOB volunteers.

 

The group said that several innocent Biafrans especially the youths have lost their lives in the hands of the mindless and compromised Nigeria security agents in Biafra land.

 

IPOB regretted that the situation was so because political leaders in the zone  and Ohaneze Ndigbo in their quest for personal political gains betrayed it before the Fulani controlled federal government.

 

The group in a statement by its media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful called on Imo and Ebonyi State Police Cmmissioners to stop parading and killing innocent youths of the two states as ESN and IPOB volunteers.

 

It said that since the formation of ESN outfit on December 12, 2020, the security agencies comprising of the army and police could only kill Ikonso because his village people set him up out of envy and jealousy, insisting that no other person in the outfit was killed.

 

The statement read in part, “We are therefore, warning those behind this barbarity to leave our land and entrust the security of our land in the hands of IPOB volunteers and ESN security outfit. Our patriotic volunteers are not compromised but ever ready to defend our people against Fulani invaders.

 

“Again, we strongly condemn the continued parading of youths in Biafra land by security agencies labelling them as IPOB and ESN commanders. There was no ESN operatives or IPOB volunteers caught in Imo State and Ebonyi State. The police must stop dishing out falsehood to the public in order to attract praises from gullible Nigerians.

 

“Our people should stop helping Fulani dominated security agencies to demonise IPOB volunteers and ESN operatives because they are only group capable of securing and protecting our people in Biafraland. Those attacking electioneering campaigns ground Enugu state are not ESN or IPOB they are those who want to demonise ESN operatives and IPOB volunteers. We discovered that those attacked campaigns ground were hired Fulani terrorists herdsmen disguised as IPOB volunteers and ESN operatives, we are not politicians, we are freedom fighters.

 

“We have not changed our resolve towards the suspension of Monday sit at home order and it must remain so because the highest body of this group is not interested again and if you believe in Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB suffering since the beginning of this struggle you must obey the order and rules coming from them.

 

“We did not stop sit at home order because of monitery gain instead we are on the order and directive of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who is suffering for us. And anybody enforcing sit at home order on Mondays is not an IPOB member he/she don’t believe in Nnamdi Kanu ideology and IPOB philosophy of this worldwide movement.

 

“Sit at home on Mondays has been suspended long time ago. if you are sitting at home on Mondays you are doing so at your own decision, not for IPOB and we are asking every village vigilante, market vigilante and church securities to prepare and confront any body enforcing sit at home on Mondays with ESN and IPOB names, ESN will support them and anybody who want to stay at home is free but stop using IPOB or ESN name and nobody should force anybody to sit at home with IPOB or ESN name.

 

The group denied playing any role at  chasing those doing campaigns in Enugu State; saying that it is not its mandate to attack security personnel or persons doing campaigns.

 

While urging politicians to look round and check their political opponents and stop mentioning ESN in their woes, IPOB stressed that ESN is not involved in such barbaric action.

 

“Security agencies should stop demonising IPOB and ESN. We are not criminals as they want to portray us. We have equally not taken up arms against the state. We are only agitating for the freedom of Biafra.

 

“The double faced security agencies arrest and free Fulani bandits and terrorists but kill off Biafrans after parading them as criminals. This injustice must stop. How come everybody is keeping mute over this secret genocide against Biafra youths?

 

“The political elite won’t see anything wrong with this atrocity because of 2023. Hundreds of Biafra youths are being wasted daily by security operatives after labelling them ESN and IPOB members. IPOB is registered in over 100 countries and they know us as freedom fighters. How come in Nigeria, the same IPOB is a death tag? This must stop”, IPOB stated.

The High Court of Abia State on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of the case involving the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, till October 7, 2021.

The vacation judge, Justice K. C. J. Okereke, took the decision as the Federal Government of Nigeria and five other respondents in the case have yet to file their response to the suit brought before the court by court, challenging the alleged infringement on his fundamental human rights.

 

In the suit, no HIH/FR14/2021, the respondents include the Federal Government of Nigeria (1st), Attorney General of the Federation (2nd), Chief of Army Staff (3rd), Inspector General of Police (5th), Director General, State Security Services (7th) and three others.

 

 

It was  reported that Kanu, through his lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, on September 7, asked the court to award him N5bn as damages for the breach of his fundamental human rights which began with the 2017 extrajudicial attempt on his life in Abia, his involuntary flight to safety/exile, his abduction in Kenya, and his extradition to Nigeria.

 

He had prayed the court to declare that his arrest, torture and detention were unconstitutional.

 

He also prayed the court to declare that his expulsion from Kenya to Nigeria, as well as the military invasion of his building in Abia in 2017, were illegal and unlawful.

 

The IPOB leader had secured an order from the court to serve by substituted means an application for enforcement of his fundamental rights.

 

At today’s hearing, it emerged that out of the eight respondents, only two – the DSS in Abuja and Umuahia – have filed their responses to the suit but their processes were filed out of time.

 

Nothing was received from the other six respondents, which include FG, the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Nigerian Army.

 

The judge subsequently adjourned the case till October 7 to allow the other respondents filed in their responses.

 

In making his ruling for adjournment of the matter, the Judge noted that Kanu shall be entitled to certain reliefs against any party that fails to timely respond to the Suit.

 

When asked about the chances of success of the suit, Ejimakor drew some inspiration from the September 17 2021 fundamental rights judgment of Oyo State High Court in favour of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) and against the Federal Government.

 

Ejimakor said, “The Oyo State High Court judgment in Igboho’s case (which is similar to Kanu) restates the locus classicus on the wide jurisdiction of State High Courts when it comes to enforcement of the fundamental rights stipulated under the Nigerian Constitution and the African Charter.”
