FCT Minister flags off 2021 staff capacity building programme

Says exercise will enhance staff performance

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has flagged off 2021 capacity building training programme for staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration(FCTA).

While flagging off the training programme at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria, Kubwa-Abuja, the Minister remarked that the exercise will boost the capacity of staff to for optimal job performance as well as ensure industrial harmony between the Administration and the Labour Union.

He said: “It is our believe that these training programmes will not only enhance service delivery and industrial harmony, but also improve overall staff performance.”

 Represented by the  Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola, the Minister said the Administration has always pushed for right funding   provision in its yearly budget for training programmes because of the importance the Administration places on training and retraining of all staff under her employ.

In his words: “The importance of training and re-training of personnel as a tool for enhancing productivity and ensuring job satisfaction in the public service cannot be overstated.

“That is why we have always advocated for appropriate funding to be made available in annual training budgets of the Administration to enable the implementation of the systematic, professional and on-the job training for every category of staff.”

Malam Bello who explained that as employees of the FCT Administration, every staff has a crucial role to play in the development of the Federal Capital Territory, charged all staff to perform their onerous responsibilities effectively and efficiently.

Earlier in his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Mr. Olusade Adesola said the training is tailor-made to address specific and identified gaps in the staff of the Administration.

Adesola further explained that the training which is on “Fundamentals of Official Communication for Staff of the FCTA”, is expected to cover basic principles of clear writing and with emphasis on the writing of Council Memorandum, Minutes and Meetings.

He equally disclosed that the Minister of FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has given approval for series of trainings, scheduled to take off in the next few weeks, including in-house training of 1,960 staff on basic Information Communication Technology.

Presenting a welcome address, the Administrator of the Public Service Institute of Nigeria, Dr. Abdul Ganiyu Obatoyinbo who said that the FCT Administration and the Public Service Institute of Nigeria have been collaborating together to modernize the country’s Public Service, enjoined the participants to take the exercise seriously and take advantage of the training to network among themselves.
