Inter-Agency collaboration: NAFRC train 48,000 security agencies personnel -Idris

.Urges Reps to raise overhead, capital budgets

The Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre NAFRC Oshodi in fulfillment of its mandate has trained  48,000 security agents in the country, the Commandant of the agency Air Marshal MA Idris has told members of House of Representatives Committee on Defence.

Notable security agencies personnel trained by the NAFRC include Nigeria Army officers and men, Nigeria Customs Service NCS officers and men, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence NSCDC personnel and Defence Intelligence Agency DIA officials among others.

The huge figure on trained security officers according to the Commandant was based on the number of activities the Centre was undertaking which has increased due to the large number of retiring personnel from the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The Commandant said that NAFRC was established with the mandate of training retiring personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN).with relevant post service skills.

He said: “The realization of the Centre’s mandate has largely been successful, the Centre prides itself to have trained 48,000 personnel since inception.

“It is noteworthy that the Centre that the Centre runs Mid-level Officers Course as well as the Senior Officers Entrepreneurship Management Workshop”.

He assured the House Committee of his commitment to exploring ways and means to enhance the process of teaching and learning at the Centre to produce better citizens for the development of a great nation.

He regretted the difficult faced by the agency meet certain obligations despite the cogent need to have reviewed some ot its standing orders.

Moreover, the Commandant lamented that the recurrent expenditures of the Centre had remained constant for over five years and called on the lawmakers to increase the budget for overhead expenditure.

He therefore presented a budget of N3,931,936,662.00 to the House Committee for approval to address NAFRC personnel emoluments in 2022.

The agency helmsman also appealed to the parliamentary committee to consider an upward review of N555,858,387.00 for overhead and  N1,230,637,043.56 as capital budget for the fiscal year.
