Political violence: Deploy more policemen to all candidates, ADC guber flagbearer urges IGP

The Borno state gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hajiya Fatima Abubakar has expressed her concern over the increasing political violence in the state and called on the Inspector General of the Police, IGP Usman Alkali, and the Borno state command to deploy more security to candidates, especially female ones during the electioneering campaign.

The ADC candidate, Hajiya Fatima Abubakar who disclosed this in an interview with Journalists in Maiduguri yesterday said she was not intimidated by the male dominance in the political landscape.

According to her, If the former Vice President and the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alh Atiku Abubakar could be attacked during his campaign visit to Maiduguri,  nobody can be spared.

“I call on the IGP and the police in the state to consider deploying more security personnel to candidates, especially female candidates during campaign activities and after the elections”, she stated.

Hajiya Fatima vowed to unseat Governor Babagana Zulum from the Government House, Maiduguri comes in the 2023 general election.

“I am optimistic that come 2023 I am going to win the Governorships election in Borno because power belongs to God and He gives it to anyone he pleases at the appointed time He pleases.

“Secondly, the reason I am going to beat Governor Zulum is that I have the support base of women who constitute over 50 percent of the voters in the state”, she added.

She said women and youths are tired of the empty promises made to them by male candidates, who have been deceiving them every time they are vying for elections and this time around they want to try female candidates who are known for honesty and integrity.

Hajiya Fatima said, “when elected into office, I would pursue policies and programmes that would better the lives of women, children and  youths who are vulnerable and most neglected.”

“I joined the gubernatorial race because whenever I see children of school age, especially girl child, Almajiris roaming about the streets, unemployed youths, engaging in drugs abuse, women dying in the hospitals during pregnancies, I feel saddened that is why I am out to correct all, as a mother”, she added.

The ADC candidate said though Governor Zulum has been trying his efforts are not good enough that was why she wants to offer herself to improve on the lapses of the incumbent Governor.
