Osun NUJ declares 3 days mourning over demise of OSBC chapel chairman

Nigeria Union of Journalists, Osun State Council has declared three days mourning period in honour of its member, Mr Tunde Adeyemo, who died in the early hours of Monday.
Adeyemo, who until his death was the Chairman of the Sound State Broadcasting Corporation, OSBC, chapel of the union, died after a brief illness.
A statement by the Chairman of the Union, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu and Secretary, Comrade Bukola Elufadejin said the union will put all its activities on hold within the mourning period.
The statement noted that late Adeyemo who worked with OSBC before his death was a committed and dedicated member of the union.
“The vacuum he left as the chairman of OSBC chapel of the union would be very difficult to fill by the state council.
“The Union however takes solace in the fact that late Adeyemo lived a fulfilled life and his service in the vineyard of the Lord and humanity cannot be underestimated.
“It is the prayer of the union that God Almighty will grant the family, relatives and NUJ the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” it said.
Also, Osun State Government has commiserated with the management and staff of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, the Osun Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, and the entire body of media professionals in the state over the passage of Mr Tunde Adeyemo.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Funke Egbemode, the deceased journalist was described as one of the very prominent actors in Osun’s media space.
“Adeyemo was a great and brilliant journalist, sports enthusiast and analyst, whose works and activities brought positive contributions to the state-owned broadcast outift over the years.
“Before closing his eyes in death at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital Osogbo (formerly LAUTECH Teaching Hospital), Mr Adeyemo was a Chief Reporter in OSBC and Chairman of the OSBC Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Osun Council, where he invested strategic efforts towards the growth of the Chapel.
“The Government of the State of Osun is pained by the loss of not just one of its sons but also another of its finest professionals in the media industry.
“The government expresses its condolences to the family of the deceased, the entirety of the journalism family in Osun state and in Nigeria as a whole, and to the management and staff of OSBC; and prays that God grants Mr Adeyemo’s family and friends the fortitude to bear the loss,” the statement read.
Mourning the deceased, members of the Correspondents of national dailies in Osun commiserated with the family, Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state.
A statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Chapel, Shina Abubakar and Lateef Dada, described the death of Adeyemo as ‘sorrowful and painful.’
Noting that Adeyemo was a bold and articulate member of the NUJ in Osun, the statement said his contribution to the media industry would not be forgotten.
“Adeyemo was dilligent, hardworking and focused in the discharge of his duty. We pray that God will give the family, OSBC and NUJ the fortitude to bear the loss,” the statement read.
