Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos organizes first  International Beauty Pageant

The maiden edition of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, international Beauty Pageant is now gathering momentum as the application form of the Pageant are now out.

The Chairman, Organizing Committee of the beauty pageant, Hon Smart Unya, who said this is the maiden edition and first of its kind, disclosed that the application form could be obtained at the sum of N5,000 starting from September 22 to November 24, 2021.

According to Hon. Unya, the Forms are available in all the campuses, Ohanaeze Secretariat and the organization’s website, adding that the winner will become an Ambassador of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

At a Press Conference in Lagos, Hon. Unya, who said the pageant is open for all ethnic groups, will help a girl-child out of poverty.

He said other winner prizes would include: A branded car; N1.5 million cash; winner’s plaque; face of Ohanaeze’ Branding the social cultural Organization.

First Runner-up, N1 million cash, and a plaque; Second Runner-up, N700,000 cash ,and  a plaque; Third Runner-up. .N500,000 cash and a plaque. Sales of Forms  close on  November 24, 2021.  Eligibility opens to all young women   of all ethnic nationalities between 18years and 25 years”, Unya further said..

In his remarks, the President Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, stated:”The Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Hon. Smart, has said it all. I just want to comment as a leader that we are going to do as we’ve said according to the Chairman of the committee

“I don’t have much to say than this will be one of its kind. After this first edition, you’re going to see a different programme that will come true according to our sponsor. He is one of the major sponsor s of this programme  Ebereanyi Chuks foundation.

“When we are talking of one Nigeria, it’s only an Igbo man that practices one Nigeria. Anywhere we find ourselves, we put it in a better shape than how we met it. That is why we don’t segregate, anywhere you come from you can benefit from an Igbo man. Ohanaeze is socio-cultural, it is highly apolitical but we know where we are coming from; that we are Igbo people who are travellers .

“Apart from being travellers; like I earlier said, it’s only that we will go to a place and put it better than how we met it. If you see any tribe talking about Ibo people, you will know that is a friend of the Igbo, he wants to have a relationship with the Igbo, whether negatively or positively; what the person wants is the relationship with an Ibo man, that is why whatever we are doing, we carry everybody along as we are practising one Nigeria”, Chief Ogbonna Aguene stated.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion, Hon .Dr King Jibe , said: “I want to use this opportunity to thank our President, High Chief Solomon Ogbonnaya Aguene,  for being a visionary leader and has brought the press on the platform of Ohanaeze.

“I think this pageant is one of its kind and I know that this pageant is going to go viral from today. I believe that other socio-cultural and ethnic groups are going to emulate what our leader has brought to us today. To start with, I’ll like to unveil the Ohanaeze International Beauty Pageant in the name of the Father ,in the name of the son and of the Holy Spirit”, Dr, Ibe added.

Another speaker, Secretary Ohanaeze Lagos, Chief Everest Ozonweke, said:  “To add to what the President has said which is the basic fact, we have Igbo married to Yoruba and denying them access to this pageant is like infringing on their freedom. I want to make it open to everybody that we have our sisters married in the North and the Northerners married to us. It is a way of promoting inter-tribal relations. So, that is the basic reason we’re saying it is for every Nigerian”.
