The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has donated 150 motorcycles to members of the Edo State Security Vigilante Network (ESSVN) to boost their operations in ensuring the security of lives and properties across the state.

At the handing over of the motorcycles, in Government House, Benin City, the governor said the motorcycles would boost the operations of ESSVN and enable members of the group to access remote areas and provide security for Edo people.

“We are handing over 150 motorcycles to members of Edo State Vigilante Security Network to enable them to access remote areas and provide security to our people in Edo State. Please accept these motorcycles on behalf of the Edo State Government,” he noted.

Also, 18 Sienna buses purchased by the Edo State Chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) were donated to ESSVN.

According to the Edo State Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Monday Osaigbovo, the 18 sienna buses donated to ESSVN will also boost and motivate their operatives in securing the people of Edo State.

He said, “18 Toyota Sienna buses were purchased by the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) Edo State branch to support ESSVN. The governor has directed ALGON to focus more on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and hopes that as we get more IGR, we also raise more funds to buy more but this is to support ESSVN.

The Coordinator, ESSVN, Col. Kole Omomia (Rtd) expressed appreciation to the governor and Edo State ALGON for the donation, noting, “We thank the Edo State Governor for the bikes. Be rest assured sir that we will make judicious use of these motorcycles and ensure it gets to where vehicles can’t get to and reduce crimes and criminality to the barest minimum in Edo State.”
