The Federal Capital Territory Administration through the Social Development Secretariat, has congratulated the State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria after its successful elections held on Friday the 23rd of September, 2022 at Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The Mandate Secretary of FCT Social Development Secretariat, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed Kabir, conveyed the congratulatory message to Comrade Suleiman Abdullahi Ango for emerging as the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) FCT Chapter, for a second tenure having served as the immediate past Chairman of the foremost youth Organization in the FCT.
According to the Mandate Secretary, the Youth Department of the Social Development Secretariat which is responsible for the supervision of the Youth body in the FCT, briefed her through a Deputy Director who represented the secretariat alongside representatives from the Department of State Security, the Nigerian Police and the Civil Defense Corps, witnessed and monitored the Elections, confirmed that diligence and due process in line with the extant rules and relevant provisions of the NYCN constitution was painstakingly adopted thereby leading to a free, fair and credible Elections.
Announcing the outcome of the result, Ambassador Abdulrazak Shaibu, Chairman of the 8-Man Electoral Committee declared Comrade Suleiman Abdullah Ango, who was unopposed and having satisfied all the necessary conditions, emerged as the winner of the Elections and Chairman of the FCT Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
Other members of the Executives include, Deputy Chairman-Irimiya Salome, Secretary Gen-Dadanla Kazeem A, Asst. Secretary Gen-Indatsu Ibrahim, Treasurer-Yahaya Bashir Maikas, Financial secretary-Isah Usman Mallam, Program Secretary-Yahaya Abdullahi Baba, Asst. Program Secretary-Abdulwahab Akande, Organizing Secretary HQ-Gabon Muhammad Salisu, Organizing Secretary II-Alhassan Abubakar S, Organizing Secretary III-Samuel Peter Aye, Social Welfare Secretary-Asheazi Musa, Public Relations Officer-Awofe Adeshina Ismail, Asst. Congratulating the new executives, the Mandate Secretary, SDS, call on the Youth Council under the Chairmanship of Comrade Suleiman to unify the entire youths of the FCT, ensure transparency in running the affairs of the council and reposition the organization in other to live up to its mandate which include but not limited to,
(i) Providing a working instrument that will ensure Peace, Love, Harmony, Progress and understanding amongst members.
Also, (ii) Live in unity as an indivisible and indissoluble youth Council dedicated to the promotion and education of the youths’ resident in the FCT;
(iii) (iii) Work vigorously towards inculcating in the youth, a sense of patriotism and nationalism
(iv) To coordinate the various programmes of all affiliate members
(v) To ensure active mobilization of FCT youths for development purposes
(vi) To contribute, comment and give recommendation on important issues as they relate to and affect the resident youths of the FCT
(vii) To evaluate at the end of the year, programmes/Activities of affiliate members and submit recommendations to the advisory Department.
The FCT Administration will continue to give support to the council programs as much as possible and ensure strict supervision of its activities through the Youth Department of the Social Development Secretariat according to the extant rules guiding its establishment.
