Leadway Assurance said that it’s over N300 billion balance sheets remains a strong asset which it is leveraging on to deliver quality products and serves.

Speaking at a one day training seminar for financial journalists in Lagos, Executive Director, General Business Mrs. Adetolas Adegbayi said that Leadway Assurance still remains the most committed insurance company in Nigeria to the obligation of claims payment adding that the company’s above the industry claims ratio stands as a pointer to the company’s strength.

We are operating at above the 40 per cent industry average in terms of claims ratio. This is not sign of inefficiency but a sign of a responsive company. Our strength is in our long term liabilities. Leadway has been growing organically. The company has enough resources to carry out its business. Leadway Assurance will only go public if and when the need for additional operational funds is required, she explained.

She had gone ahead to harp on the importance of insurance advising that more Nigerians should take advantage of term assurance to improve their lots. The training session which was conducted in partnership with the National Insurance and Pension Correspondents (NAIPCO) has turned out as a veritable ground for drilling financial journalists in the business of insurance and pensions.

Over 40 journalists covering the Insurance and Pensions beats from Print, electronic and online media platforms in the country attended the one-day capacity building and re-tooling workshop. This edition of the training would focus on critical areas of the Insurance sector such as endowment plans, maintaining operational standards in insurance as well as other areas relating to Pensions.
The quarterly training initiative by Leadway Assurance is in recognition of the need for journalists to be abreast of latest industry trends both locally and globally given their important role as purveyors of news and information that the insuring and un-insuring public depend on to form opinions about insurance and the economy.

“The core of Leadway’s corporate philosophy is hinged on ensuring the growth and sustainability of the Nigerian economy through deepening education and access to insurance and financial services. In achieving this objective, we see the media as a critical partner and stakeholder, hence the need to collaborate” Leadway management had stated.

It would be recalled that the maiden edition of the Leadway Journalism Training project held in October 2017, when Leadway Assurance collaborated with NAIPCO to organize the first of its kind comprehensive training workshop for members as part of the 2017 NAIPCO Conference to facilitate capacity building for insurance correspondents.

Leadway Assurance is one of Nigeria’s foremost insurance service companies with a reputation for service efficiency and customer reliability. The organization is committed to bridging the financial protection gap and increasing the rate of insurance penetration in Nigeria.
