Gov. Ododo absent as APC inaugurates Ondo election c’ttee.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday appointed Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo as Chairman of the Ondo Primary Election Committee to organize it’s primary election on Saturday, April 20, 2024.

Ododo, who was absent at the inauguration ceremony was represented by his deputy who apologised for the governor, saying security challenges prevented the governor from traveling out of Kogi to be present at the Inaugural ceremony. The seven-man committee, which has members drawn from across the country was charged by the National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to conduct credible, free and fair primary election for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to pick a sound candidate to fly the party’s flag at the Ondo Governorship Election in November. Ganduje said although there is no perfect election, the committee should try and produce a candidate thY will be acceptable to the majority of party members.

While Inaugurating the committees at the National Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, the National Chairman said a five-man Primary Election Appeal Committee headed by former Bauchi Governor Mohammed Abubakar which was also inaugurated will preside over complaints arising from the Ondo primary election.
Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege will serve as the Secretary of the Primary Election Committee. Other members are Sen. Lekan Mustapha; Hon. Adefunmilayo Tejuoso; Chief Meg Duru; former Oyo Deputy Governor Iyiola Oladokun and Dr. Sani Danjuma.The five-man Appeal Committee are Chief Obiocha Israel as Secretary while other members are Jamilu Isiyiaka Gwamna and Hon. Patrick Obahiagbo.
Earlier the National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Sulaiman Arugungu said all the aspirants were properly screened and certified fit to contest the primary election.
