FCTA DRTS introduced real-time online based internet registration portal.

In a bid to mitigate the activities of touts characterized by the unwholesome activities of manual procedures, Authorities of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has on Thursday, introduced the real-time online based internet registration portal.

In particular, the review was informed by the quest review and introduced basic innovations imperative to repositioning the Directorate for quality service delivery to the residents of FCT with respect to Motor Vehicle Administration.

The Director, Directorate of Road Traffic Service,Dr. Bello Abdullateef, stated this in his welcome address at the occasion for the unavailing of the FCT DRTS Self -Service vehicle registration portal held in Abuja.

Dr Bello explained that the manual registration has been encumbered with various level of challenges
largely due to manual procedures and characterized by the unwholesome
activities of touts and unnecessary administrative procedural traffics.

He stressed that the introduction of technology based solution has proven to be a better and more etticient solution to all human endeavors.

In the words of the Director:”Having done a Comprehensive Overview of the prevailing system on assumption of duty as the Director, DRTS in March, 2022, it became expedient to review and introduce basic innovations imperative to repositioning the Directorate for quality service delivery to the residents of FCT with respect to Motor Vehicle Administration.

“The myriads of these challenges with all the attendant systemic distractions on
the general output of staff and the image of the DRTS can best be imagineed.

” For us to explore, hence, the introduction of real-time online based internet registration portal. This also conforms to International best practice which tends to eliminate completely the inadequacies of the prevailing
circumstances in the motor vehicle registration in FCT.”

We make bold to assert that the introduction of the Self-Service
vehicle registration portal in the FCT will be a game changer for motor
vehicle registration with all the multiplier advantages.

In particular, he said it will stimulate revenue generation and drastically reduce leakage.

Most importantly, he said nline Vehicle registration will allow a client to register his or her vehicle from the comfort of their homes in real-time.

Furthermore, unwholesome activities as well as touting and other
human errors will be drastically reduced to the barest minimum; as lead to time and energy saving, he said.

“It is necessary to buttress that as a Government Agency saddled with
the responsibilities of Motor Vehicle Administration in the Territory, we are
poised to bring to bear every innovation needed to make FCT a trail blazer
for other States and relative Agencies to emulate. We therefore encourage
the public to key into the innovation to achieve a safer and secure motoring
environment”

Similarly, the FCTA Secretary for Transportation Secretariat, Abdullahi Adamu Candido admonished residents to imbibe the mantra of saying something when we see or experience something untoward
on our roads.

Saying, on our part the FCT Administration will continue to place road safety and proper traffic management services on the front burner of its development agenda and I call for the cooperation of all road users in the FCT to make our roads as safe as they can be.
It is on this note that I therefore formally unveil the FCT

“DRTS Online Registration platform on its Service Portal at
www.selfservice.drts.gov.ng and urge all road users in the FCT
to avail themselves of its service”, he said.
