Appraise your performance  before leaving office, cleric tells Buhari

The Anglican Bishop of Egbu Diocese, in Owerri  North local Government Area of  Imo State Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Enyinnaya Okoroafor has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to take  stock of his administration and score himself before leaving  office next year.

Bishop Okiroafor, said, ”  the President should be sincere in scoring himself on a number of issues  such as  insecurity, appointments, employments, educational advancement, infrastructural development, health care, unprecedented inflation, high dollar rate compared with the year 2015 and devaluation of the naira.”

Bishop Okiroafor, raised the  challenge in his Presidential  Address to the 3rd Session of the 9th Synod of the Diocese held at the Christ Anglican Church Emeabiam, which had the theme “Honour to a father and a master but denying God his Honour and Reverence An error”.

Speaking  extensively on the worrisom state of the nation amidst immeasurable divine endowments,  the Bishop noted  that while brain drain syndrome had continued to hit the nation as a result of unconducive environment, insecurity had replaced security,

According to him, ”   the spate of tribalism, ethno religious factors, political deceit, corruption at all levels of national life, unpatriotic nationals, inconsistency in national policies, lopsidedness in the share of our common wealth, appointments, mediocrity against meritocracy among other ills had become the order of the day.”

Bishop Okoroafor equally decried the rot rocking the nation’s education sector and its resultant  effects coupled with the escalating tempo of corruption  and warned that “until the judiciary is free from the shackles of being controlled by the executive arm of the  government, it  would continue to  be in  bondage”.

“Let the judiciary have its budget, control it and take decisions that concern it where necessary and not to be under the strict orders of the executive arm thus making it helpless in some areas of operations” even as he frowned against  the hegemonic and suppressive actions of some state governors against the  media in their states.

Contending that women of substance, honour and credibility  should be given the opportunity for the  nation’s presidency, the cleric pleaded with governor Hope Uzodinma to intensify measures aimed at checking flood disasters, indiscriminate dumping of refuse in parts of the Owerri Capital City, Street/Road side trading as well as payment of salaries’ workers in the state.
