2019 guber poll : I’ll run an inclusive government if elected -YDP Governorship candidate

The Young Democratic Party, YDP’s Governorship candidate in Taraba State, Mr. Musa Bah Kanawa, has said for the much- needed security and peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic and religious groups in the state to be actualized, traditional rulers must be accorded the deserved recognition.

Kanawa, who stated this in Jalingo, the state capital, at a press briefing also said that peace could never be achieved in any society without recourse to the royal fathers because of their closeness with the people.

He said the party’s readiness to accord the traditional institution its rightful place when giving the mandate to run the affairs of the state in the next political dispensation.

“YDP, as made known by me “if given the opportunity will identify with the traditional institution, religious leaders and community leaders too”, he said.

Kanawa, who was of the view that the major setback of Taraba State was mistrust, which he believed is being perpetrated by politicians who derive joy in dividing the people along religious and ethnic lines, stated that YDP “is coming with the plans to reject the populace psyche of Tarabans .”

The governorship candidate enumerated four cardinal points to be applied if elected for the growth of the state including respect for diversity and inclusion , community base social economy and industrial development, facility and infrastructural development as well as security and peaceful coexistence.

According to him, it is sad and unfortunate that you will see a whole local government area there is no good access road, adding that even the state capital still lacks basic facilities.

YDP, if given the opportunity, he said: “intends to create an enabling environment for all citizens of Taraba State to have the right to participate in governance, pointed out that their government would institute paradigm shift that will make them to move away from the usual governance to institutional participating governance in the state.

Kanawa, however, was optimistic that crisis bedeviling and retarding the rapid development of the state would have been a thing of the past if traditional rulers are carried along,.

He pleaded with the royal fathers to exercise patient as the YDP, according to him, has mapped out plans to herald smiles on their faces if elected as Governor.
