The trial of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Publicity Secretary in Ebonyi State Mr Chika Nwaoba , was aborted on Wednesday at the Abakaliki Magistrate Court, as the Defendant slumped at the court  premises making him incapacitated to stand trial.

A mild drama occured when the accused brought to the court in a Hilux Jeep accompanied by Police Personnel, slumped at the court entrance and was rushed to hospital.

Midway to the hospital, the police authorities made a U-turn and the accused was brought back to the court fettered and carried unconscious to the Dock.

Making an application,, Counsel to the Defendant Barrister Luke Nkwegu, raised am objection to the trial insisting that the trial be put on hold since the Law does not allow trial of an accused that is fettered.

According to him, * the defendant was abducted on Sunday 9th January 2022 by some criminals *

*The police were called on telephone who responded and rescued the defendant*

Opposing the application, the Prosecution Counsel Mr Mathias Eze, argued that the Charge needed to be read before the application

Delivering her Ruling, the Magistrate Her Worship Blessing Chukwu, granted the application of the Defendant and ruled that he be taken  to the hospital for proper medicare.

The Magistrate however adjourned the Matters till January 14th 2022.
