The State Chief Executive emphasized that the River boats will be moving around riverine areas, Rivers and Beaches, in addition to armoured personnel carriers for the hinterlands.
Umahi made the disclosure on Friday while briefing newsmen at the end of a Security Council meeting held at New Government House Centenary city abakaliki.
He said that the meeting was convened to evaluate if security agencies have challenges and profered solutions.
“We discussed especially Flash-points where bandits are operating, and to instill people confidence to exercise their franchise”
The State Chief Executive urged Ebonyians not to panic stating that the Jets will be flying low to forstal any threat to law and order from hoodlums .
“They have deployed Armoured Personnel Gun boats , men on ground to ensure that everybody is free to partake in the election”
“We göt a surprise package from security Chiefs from Abuja, all aimed at having a credible polls in Ebonyi State”
“From Enugu Airforce, a Flying Officer with a Jet dedicated to this election, all aimed at securing Ebonyians”
The Governor rolled out the resolutions reached at the meeting to include restriction of movements including that no security agents should accompany anybody to the polling units.
“Any person causing violence, or possession of guns should be arrested , no Observer or Security Agents should interfere in the elections”
The Governor warned that personnel of Ebubeagu Security Outfits, must not operate on the 25th February and 11th March slated for the polls
Umahi raised complaints that the State government have received reports of the presence of fake Observers that have invaded the State.
“We received reports of fake Observers, a number of people have cloned Observers Accreditation by INEC”
“We learned this disturbing information, security agencies are empowered to search anybody”
He insisted that there must be peaceful election in the State, and enjoined the citizenry to conduct themselves inaccordance with the provisions of the law.
In attendance during the meeting included the State Commissioner of Police Faleke Sunday Olaleye, the Cantonment Commander Nkwegu Military Cantonment, and the Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps among others.
