Plateau indigenous Muslim identify with governor elect, disregard Sheikh Jingir intrigues

The Association of Indigenous Muslim in Plateau State has expressed their desire and determination to render unflinching support and loyalty to the governor elect, Barr Caleb Mutfwang and deputy NGO Josephine Piyo.

The association said all they anticipated is a brighter, futuristic and better Plateau that would work for all devoid of religion or ethnicity.

Speaking to newsmen in Jos the state capital Thursday, deputy chairman of the association Abubakar Pamzat alongside other executive members said, they have strong conviction that the duo of Mutfwang/Piyo coming on board will change the narrative of governance in Plateau.

He said they are sons and daughters of Plateau coming from different political parties to identify priority with the incoming administration because the unity and progress of the state is very key.

“We congratulates Barr.Caleb Mutfwang and NGO Josephine Piyo as governor and deputy governor elect. In fact, your victory at the polls is a resounding success and demonstration of acceptability across the length and breadth of Plateau.

” We appeal to Mutfwang to run an inclusive governance devoid of religion, ethnic or political party differences. We pledged our support and loyalty… ”

While responding to question on the utterances of Sheikh Yahaya Jingir prior to Saturday 18th March, 2023 governorship election where he authoritatively endorsed APC candidate Dr.Nentawe Yilwatda, Pamzat said whatever Sheikh Jingir is for his members and not the collective will of Muslims

He opines that,” the call by an Islamic cleric to Muslims in the state before the elections to cast their vote along religious line was to only members of the domination of the said cleric. Stressing that as Indigines of Plateau, we cast our votes during elections based on the credibility of the candidates in the contest and not on religious line”, he stated.
