President Muhammadu Buhari Friday swore in Justice Tanko Ibrahim Muhammad as the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).The swearing in ceremony took place at the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to the President, the appointment of the Acting. CJN followed the suspension of Justice Walter Onnoghen from office.
President Buhari explained that his action to suspend Onnoghen was in obedience to an order by the Code Of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) which is currently trying the CJN for alleged non declaration of assets.
The CCT order, he said, was dated January 23.
