INEC meets Lagos Police boss, others, assures peaceful conduct of 2023 elections

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Lagos State on Thursday held an Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) meeting with security agencies in the State.

 

The meeting which took place at the State INEC office was to put strategies in place to ensure the peaceful conduct of the polls.

 

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the HOD Voter Education and Publicity Secretary of the Commission in the State, Mrs. Adenike Tadese on behalf of the State Resident Electoral Commissioner.

 

The statement read, “The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Lagos State in her quest to enhance adequate security during the forthcoming 2023 general in the State held an inaugural meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) at the State office of the Commission.

 

“The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Committee in the State, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje MFR, mni Hon Resident Electoral Commissioner INEC Lagos State and the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr. Abiodun Alabi as the Co-chairman of the Committee also had the heads of other security agencies in the State and the Administrative Secretary of INEC in attendance.

 

“The Committee agreed to design security strategies to deploy before, during, and after the 2023 general election to ensure the security of the electorate and the entire electoral process.

 

“INEC further assures the good people of Lagos State that the forthcoming general election would be conducted under the atmosphere of peace and harmony.”
