Govt. victimisation: Health workers to stage National Rally in Abuja on Monday

The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) will on Monday in collaboration with NLC/TUC stage a National Rally in Abuja to protest the unending tyranny of Federal Ministry of Health and State Ministries of Health directed against health workers in Nigeria.

JOHESU in a communique on Friday after its meeting in Abuja said the government has failed to address some of its demands which includes unjustified withholding of the salaries of JOHESU members for the months of April and May, 2018 Upward Adjustment of CONHESS Salary Structure as well as the headship of Hospital Departments.

Other demands include the implementation of Consultancy Cadre to its members and also the punitive actions against its members in FMC Owerri and JUTH.

The communique signed by JOHESU President, Biobelemoye Joy Josaiah and 10 others stated that after a painstaking appraisal of the totality of events, JOHESU resolved that “all members of JOHESU should dedicate Friday, February 1, 2019 to Special Jumat prayers and Sunday, February 3, 2019 to Christian prayers for God to Fight its pending battles with all her adversaries.

“JOHESU in collaboration with NLC/TUC will stage a National Rally in Abuja to draw the attention of the Federal and State Ministries of Health to the unending tyranny of Federal Ministry of Health and State Ministries of Health directed against Health Workers in all health facilities at Federal, State and LGA levels on Monday, February 4, 2019.

“All Branch Executive representatives ln Federal Health Institutions and State Chairmen/Secretaries of all member unions of JOHESU are specially Invited to attend a meeting slated to commence at 8.00am prompt on Monday, February 4, 2019. Towards this end, all invitees are specially mandated to arrive Abuja on Sunday February 3, 2019 to enable participation in all activities slated for Monday, February 4, 2019.

“Zonal and State rallies involving the generality of JOHESU members to continue on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. This must be held in conjunction with all stakeholders as appropriate.”

The union however adviced members to await further directives which shall be communicated from the JOHESU headquarters forthwith.
