Gov/House of Assembly polls: Voting commences in Ebonyi

Voting commenced at 8.30 am across most polling units in Ebonyi State.

Earlier, distribution of electoral materials at the Registration Area Centers (RACs), to various polling units in Ebonyi State for today’s Governorship and State Assembly election ended around 8.20 am.

The distribution were done at various Registration Area Centres (RACs) across the state.

As early as 7am, our Correspondent, who visited one of the RACs located inside Station Urban Primary School and Presbyterian Church in Abakaliki the State capital observed that the INEC officials were present ahead of commencement of voting.

At Polling Unit 002, Edukwu Okemini Ward, Izzi Local Government Area Ebonyi State, the APC Governorship Candidate, Hon Francis Nwifuru voted at about 9.20 am.

In an interview with newsmen, Nwifuru commended INEC for the early commencement of voting.

“So far, the exercise is going on smoothly, you can see that every where is calm, everybody is going around doing their engagements

I commend the security agencies and the government for providing the enabling environment for the peaceful exercise,” he noted.

Contributing, the Presiding Officer Mrs. Lovet Okeye, said the exercise was moving smoothly.

Three of the voters  after  casting their ballots, Mr Nnụnụ Nwite cmmended INEC for the early commencement of polls.

On his part Mrs Veronica Nkasi, thanked God for the peaceful conduct of the election.
