FCTA strengthend Planning, Research and Statistics Division to curb insecurity in Area Councils

Authorities of the FCT Administration (FCTA) Area Councils Service Secretariat has embarked on a tour of the area councils to further deliberate on issues of strengthening the Planning Research and Statistics Division of the six area councils for effective and efficient data collection being part of the schedule request from the FCTA.

The Mandate Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Dantsoho, hinted the FCT Ministering Press Corps while reeling out the activities of the secretariat from January to date, on Friday in Abuja.

In particular, Dantsoho said the Secretariat in synergy with the relevant Security agensis are fine toning measures to curb insecurity in the nation’s capital city.

“The secretariat also engage in security and awareness programme on the role of youths in mitigating security issues, and also was part of programme on capacity training for the Original Inhabitants and Traditional Rulers in the FCT”

“This is with a view to strengthen the traditional justice system of the FCT Original Inhabitants and also combat Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and Harmful traditional practices like killing of twice.” Dantsoho said.

He also disclosed that the secretariat was currently working towards creating a comprehensive database secured by cloud-based servers and a management information system streamlined in all area councils.

For effective service delivery, Dantsoho said the Secretariat has adopted mersures to ensure a robust and sustainable supervisory framework to effectively coordinate and reposition the area councils programmes.

In his words:”The year 2022 kicked off as my management team and I embarked on a special tour of the six area councils and the 17 Chiefdoms.

” This is to enable us to discuss on how best to bring progress in the areas of health, security, social amenities as well as improving the way of lifestyle of residents.

In the health unit,the secretary disclosed that the secretariat had been able to monitor and evaluate the status of the Health Care Facilities as well as the Drugs Revolving Scheme.

” From the Basic Health Care Provision Funds, the secretariat constructed Antenatal and Immunization Hall at Gwagwalada Township Primary Health Care Centre to enable the women have access to Antenatal service and boost immunisation activity in the area councils.

The Mandate Secretary however, pledged that the secretariat would continue to build partnership that would synchronized FCTA’s developmental efforts with development at the grassroot level.
