Enugu State Govt Records Impressive Progress On The Nike Lake T Junction Flyover Bridge

The Enugu State Government has said that it has made substantial and impressive progress on the Fly Over Bridge at intractable T – Junction Nike Lake road / Nike road.

The entire Flyover bridge, which is 720 metres, essentially features the BRIGDE SECTION which is105 metres long with seven spans of 15 metres each, and two abutments; approaches of the bridge comprised of ramps that are 370 metres and 245 metres respectively in length towards both axis of Nike Lake and Nike Inland Town, with a dual carriageway of 7.3 metres width for each carriageway, 0.6 metres wide median with one meter wide walkway.
The Service Roads are single carriageways with concrete-lined drains and walkways.
Vehicles mainly from Nike Lake axis moving towards Timber Market take the Sevice Road at the beginning of the Ramp, while vehicles from Timber Market to Nike Lake axis road will go under the bridge through the service road also provided. Vehicular and Pedestrian movements both bounds from Nike Inland Town to Nike Lake axis will use the bridge.

The Honourable Commissioner, Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure Engr Sir Greg Nnaji ,disclosed this after an inspection tour at the T-Junction Flyover Bridge Project on Tuesday, to ascertain the level of work on site.
The Honourable Commissioner confirmed that his visit was to carry out a technical assessment on the project in strict compliance with design specifications and progress made so far with the view of completing the project within record time.
He inspected ongoing works at the bridge deck, the approach ramps, the triple-cell box culvert at Chainage 0+125, the drainage works at the T-Junction and the provisions made for the hold-down bolts for the streetlights along the flyover and the service roads; ductings for power and water supply, and Road Furniture.
Engr. Nnaji expressed satisfaction at the level and quality of work being executed by the contractor, Messrs. IDC Construction Ltd, and assured them of continued prompt payment of their Interim Payment Certificates generated in line with the “START TO FINISH” Project execution policy of His Excellency Rt Hon.Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Governor of Enugu State.
He commended the Consultant and Resident staff of the Ministry for their efforts in seeing to strict adherence to the design and specifications in line with global
standard practice.
Egnr Nnaji also advised them to be more sensitive and proactive in their engineering skills to ensure that the project was realized within the approved project work plan, and in line with the world’s best practices.

Responding, the Project Manager, Engr Youssef Zghaib commended the Enugu State Government led by His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for employing global best practices in project finance management. He stated that prompt payments on generated certificates have exceptionally enhanced their performance, despite certain security
challenges which at some point, threatened the pace of work.
The Project Manager reiterated that the company is on track to complete and commission the project within the approved project duration.
