Radio Nigeria Names Chief Maurice Emeka Akueme Preeminent COVID19 Hero

The salutary contributions by an Enugu Diaspora business mogul, Chief Maurice Enema Akueme, directly and indirectly through his foundation, the Maurice Enema Akueme Foundation, MAF, to alleviate the suffering and hardship brought on the people of Enugu State by the global pandemic, COVID19 and associated developments, the eagle eyes of the Radio Nigeria social watches have zeroed in on these philanthropic landmarks.

As the health impacts of COVID-19 did not spare Nigeria leading to her recording ts first case of COVID-19 on February 27, 2020, and has subsequently suffered three distinct waves of infection, peaking in June 2020, January and August 2021,health and safety measures – including inter-state and international travel bans, restrictions on mass gatherings, and school closures – had waxed and waned with case numbers, as the Federal Government of Nigeria had sought to contain the spread of the virus.

Nevertheless, many of the primary effects of the COVID-19 crisis on Nigeria had been economic, rather than health related, especially for food items that were crucial for consumption among the poor and vulnerable.
Concerned philanthropists and corporate entities had pooled resources and partnered the federal and other levels of government in ameliorating the plight of the people.
In Enugu State and environs, Chief Maurice Emeka Akueme”s stood him out as a leader as he partnered the government via Gburuscare to make life more amenable to the people.
Just like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Center which research found to be the biggest private foundation in the world; The Maurice Akueme Foundation(MAF) joined the league of givers without size or season.

The palliatives were not government provided palliatives but an individual effort in a bid to compliment the hard work and all inclusive, grand governance style of the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi.

All this gestures of kindness and generosity never went unnoticed.
