The National Council of State has approved the sum of N27,000 as the new national minimum wage.The bill on the recommendation is to be transmitted to the National Assembly on Wednesday.
Organizations with less than 25,000 personnel have been exempted from applying it.According to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, who briefed State House correspondents after the council meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the amount is only the benchmark.
He said the Federal Government will pay N30,000 to its workers. Ngige asserted that the approved amount is subject to review after five years.
Recall that the Federal Government had offered to pay 24,000; states, 22,500 whereas the organized labour are demanding for N30,000.
