Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has pledged to support all categories of farmers in order to improve agricultural production and food security in the state.
The Governor made the promise through the deputy governor, Prince Kola Adewusi during the solidarity visit paid by the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) at the Government House, State Secretariat Abere.
Adeleke reiterated his agenda to fight poverty and increase food production in the state, calling on the farmers to cooperate with him.
He said, “my 5-point development agenda embraces agriculture which, I am persuaded, will help reduce poverty, boost revenue and improve food security if well managed.
“Consequently, my government will give farmers all the needed support to enhance massive food production in the State.”
The Governor further assured that he will put necessary machinery in place to ensure that the farmers in the State are the beneficiaries of government support.
Earlier, in his address, the Chairman of AFAN, Alhaji Sulaiman Araokanmi appreciated the Governor for giving them audience which he described as a rare privilege.
He presented the needs of the association to the government, which include the need for modernised farming equipment’s like tractors; farm inputs like fertilizers, herbicides to be available in all parts of the state.
