Hundreds of women in Nembe local government area of Bayelsa State have declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The women made their position known during a grassroots sensitisation and mobilisation tour of Nembe city and Opu-Nembe, organised by the socio-cultural group, Nembe Se unites, under its Ama-Ama (Village-to-Village) tour for PBAT campaign.

The president and convener of the group, Mrs Beatrice Numonyo Awululu, said the initiative was designed to mobilise women, particularly those in rural communities, to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

Awululu, an All Progressives Congress (APC) member, said Nembe and other communities in Bayelsa East had benefited from projects executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) under its Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku.

She expressed confidence that the Tinubu administration would deliver more development projects to the area if re-elected, urging the women to reciprocate what she described as the Federal Government’s support for the region.

According to her, women remain a significant force in grassroots politics, stressing the need for them to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the electoral process.

She also commended Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri; the NDDC Managing Director, Dr Ogbuku; high chief government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo; and chief Dr Kojo Sam for their support for Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

“The theme is Ama-Ama Tour, which means going from village to village to preach the gospel of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election. As a card-carrying member of the APC, I am here to encourage Nembe women and youths to support the president.

“One good turn deserves another civil servants are happy, and in Bayelsa east, we are also benefiting from NDDC interventions under the leadership of our son, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, through the NDDC, the Tinubu administration has made interventions in our area, and we believe it will do more for our people,” she said.

Also speaking, the coordinator of the Ama-Ama Tour for PBAT in Opu-Nembe, Mrs Seiyefa Clinton, said the campaign was aimed at mobilising grassroots support for the APC and president Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

She explained that the mobilisation exercise was inspired by the traditional practice among the Nembe people of coming together to deliberate on critical issues and reach a collective decision, clinton said the women had resolved to support the APC and Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Similarly, the secretary general of Nembe Se unites, Mrs Abel Ikiomuna Faith, said the group was encouraging women across the communities to speak with one voice and rally behind its grand patron, chief Dr Kojo Sam, in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The leader of Nembe Se Unites in Nembe city, Mrs Inigoni Gamage, and the women leader of Okoroma, Mrs Fakuma Ederson Zebidi, expressed confidence in the group’s grassroots mobilisation efforts.

They said the village-to-village campaign was expected to strengthen the APC’s political presence across Nembe communities ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
