Senate President and presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ahmed Lawan, on Thursday got the endorsement of Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, for the presidential ticket of the ruling party.

Masari, who served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives (2003 to 2007) when himself and Lawan were in their second term in the Green Chamber, noted that as a direct result of his close contact with Lawan for about 23 years, he could vouch for the preparedness of Lawan for the leadership of Nigeria.

“There is no doubt it. I will say he is very solid person; very solid person, reliable and dependable,” Masari stressed.

Addressing the Katsina APC national delegates before their meeting with the Senate President went into a closed door session for about 30 minutes, Masari said the delegates welcomed Lawan on his first outing to canvass delegates’ support party’s ticket.

His words: “I told him he should have gone to other places before Katsina as he doesn’t need to come here because whatever is possible that we can do for him, we will do it.

“But for him to come and see the faces (of our delegates) or for the faces to see him is also a mark of respect for the delegates and the people of Katsina State.”

Earlier, the Senate President, who said Katsina is his second home after Yobe State, noted that he had in his Kitty the requisite experience, capacity, ability, audacity and courage to pilot the affairs of Nigeria to greater heights.

Lawan also expressed confidence that whether through direct or indirect primary election or consensus arrangement, he would by the grace of God emerge as the flag bearer of the APC.
