Working People United (WoPU), has commissioned its powerful Podcast Studio, as part of efforts, to give the nation’s working people, a stronger voice in the conversations that shape their lives, their livelihoods and the future of Nigeria.
Addressing guests at the event which held yesterday ( Tuesday , October 20), at WoPU’s national Secretariat, Abuja, the National Coordinator-General of the group , Comrade Prince Akporeha Williams Enredonana said the studio is the opening of a platform for ideas and a deliberate step towards strengthening the relationship between government and the people.
He said ;” The Working People United Podcast Studio is not being established merely to produce content or add another voice to the crowded media space. We are establishing it to create a platform where important national issues can be discussed honestly, intelligently and constructively; where the concerns of ordinary Nigerians and working people can find expression; and where the policies and programmes of government can be examined, explained and communicated to the people they are intended to serve.
“We live in a time when information travels rapidly, public opinion is shaped daily and misinformation can spread faster than the truth. In such an environment, organisations that genuinely care about the welfare of the people must take responsibility for providing credible information, encouraging meaningful conversations and helping citizens understand the issues that affect them.
That is the responsibility we have accepted.”
Akporeha explained that through the platform, WoPU intends to engage policymakers, government officials, labour leaders, unionists, political actors, professionals, entrepreneurs, civil society representatives and ordinary working Nigerians, adding that they will discuss governance, public policies, workers’ welfare, industrial relations, minimum wage implementation, job creation, economic reforms, taxation, education, healthcare, social protection and the many challenges confronting Nigerian working people.
“Our mission is to bring governance closer to the people, bring the concerns of the people closer to government and create a platform where information, ideas and constructive engagement can drive national development.
“Working People United believes in and is highly committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and we are committed to supporting his re-election alongside the Vice President, His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, in 2027.
“The platform being commissioned today shall also form an integral part of the campaign for a greater Nigeria and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Because we believe that the national conversation should not be driven by misinformation, political hostility or the deliberate distortion of public policies. It should be driven by facts, evidence, honest assessment and a genuine commitment to Nigeria’s progress.
This is where the Working People Podcast will play a significant role.
“We intend to use this platform to explain the rationale behind the administration’s policies, discuss the progress being made, examine the challenges that remain and communicate the opportunities these policies may create for working Nigerians.
“We will engage in conversations that promote the Renewed Hope Agenda, canvass support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 and encourage working people to make informed decisions about the political leadership and future they desire.
We believe that political support is strongest when it is built on understanding, engagement and conviction. It must go beyond slogans and campaign rallies. It must be sustained through conversations that connect government policies to the everyday experiences and aspirations of the people.
“For us, the Working People United Podcast is therefore both a platform for public engagement and an instrument for political mobilisation. We intend to take the conversation to the grassroots, using accessible communication to reach working people in all communities across the 36 states of the federation, the Federal Capital Territory, the 774 Local Government Areas and among Nigerians in the diaspora”, he added.
The WoPU boss therefore called on government officials, labour leaders, political stakeholders, development experts, professionals, members of the media and all Nigerians who believe in constructive engagement to partner with them on aspirations of working Nigerians are given the attention with the and entire membership of communication, public enlightenment, and the future of the organisation.
