With Dame Okwuosa hospital overseas treatment has ended – Soludo

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state disclosed during his commissioning of Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial hospital, at Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Anambra State, Thurday, that Nigeians needed not to continue  to go to overseas for medical treatment with the establishment of the high quality hospital here in the state.

 

The Governor who was ably represented by his Deputy, Onyekachukwu Ibezim, hinted that about 36 Nigerians suffer from cardiac diseases pointing out that the hospital is a specialist in treatment of such ailment.

 

He lauded Chief Emeka Okwuosa,the chairman of Irene Okwuosa Foundation for the establishment of the hospital which he  said was to imortalise his late Mother, late Dame Irene Nneka Okwuosa.

 

According to the Governor, “the children of late Irene Okwuosa, especially Sir Emeka Okwuosa, have done a lot of things for their parents. Most of us don’t even know the extent of the quality of the hospital”.

 

“It is a multi million naira project  and we need to sustain it . I commend Sir Emeka Okwuosa for the completion of the hospital on record time”

 

In his response Chief Okwuosa said that, “this hospital has been built to the glory of God and in memory of my mother, late Dame Irene Nneka Okwuosa, who was a teacher who loved, cared and cartered for people and earnestly prayed for an institution in Oraifite dedicated for alleviation of suffering of people with challenging medical cases”

 

“Indeed her vision has come about after several years of hard work determination, perseverance and focus. It has taken the toll of substantial investment from Oilserv group and Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation, with the support of VOOM foundation and other successful organizations whose aim and objective have been to give back to the community and country at large by offering the best health care you can get anywhere in this country”

 

“The hospital will provide the healthcare (in particular cardiology, which our people travel abroad to get )and will deliver first class health and medical care with the highest quality and safest care possible for every patient in our country”

 

“The hospital fully commits itself to complementing government’s effort towards reducing maternal and child mortality, controlling the spread of preventable  diseases, providing  access to affordable and safe surgery for the removal of  tumours considered inoperatable in most hospitals in the country”.

 

Among those present on the ocassion included the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, Anambra state commissioner for Health, Amanda Obidike- General Manager of Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation, among others.END
