Umahi has made Ebonyi State a Reference Point In infrastructural devt.- Engr Abara

Engr Ogbonnaya Obasi Abara, is the Commissioner for Works/Transport Ebonyi State. In this  interview with selected Journalists on the occasion of activities marking the 25th Anniversary of the creation of the State, he bares his mind on achievements of Governor Umahi administration on Roads Construction and Infrastructural Development, our Correspondents Clement Nnachi was there. Excerpts

Could you give us an overview on the achievements of Governor Umahi administration in terms of Roads Construction and Rehabilitation?

Governor Umahi administration came on board in May 29th 2015. The Government seeing the deplorable nature of Roads swung into action.

The popular Ogoja road known as (Dr Sam Egwu road ) located in abakaliki the capital city that was in disarray up to Rice Mill received attention. This road project was immediately tackled by the administration and fixed accordingly.

Secondly, the State Government went into Urban Renewal of the capital city for instance the Ndeagu Layout road beside International Market, St Patrick road, Watchman road all in Abakaliki that were impassable then, today has been fixed.

During the electioneering campaign of Governor David Umahi in 2015, he promised the electorate that on assumption of office his administration would embark on the construction of 15 km road in each Local Government Area of the State. How far has the Government gone in the actualisation of this goals?

Governor David Umahi administration has fulfilled that promise. Each of the 13 Local Government Councils has concrete rigid pavement of roads with Bridges .Umahi administration did not lose sight of Flash Points . We have 14 Flyovers, about 10 have been completed. Three of the Flyovers including that of the Airport Junction ,  Amasiri Flyover , Inyere Flyover will be completed in 10 months time. Work will commence soon at Afikpo and that of Bishop Michael Okoro Flyover .

Give us the progress of work so far on the 190 Km Ring Road Project embarked upon by the administration.

Before the administration bows out in 2023,  all the projects would have been completed. In summary ,we are satisfied at 25. Ebonyi State has been made a Reference Point In terms of Network of roads including Auxilliary works.
