Tackle insecurity in Nigeria seriously, genuinely, EOYNA tells Buhari

A  Yoruba group in Diaspora,  Egbe Omo Yoruba North America (EOYNA), has said called  on the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari to address the core problem identified by  the retired Naval Officer, Commodore Olakunle Olawunmi “as its Center of Gravity” if   it wants to tackle  insecurity in Nigeria seriously and genuinely.

The group in a statement also cautioned that nothing adverse should happen to Commodore Olawunmi because he has exercised his Right to Free Speech and has spoken the truth with facts for the sake of Nigeria and Nigerians.

The statement signed by Durojaye Odimayo Akindutire MD, President of   EOYNA, prayed that God will keep and protect Comd. Olawunmi and his family for his bravery and also watch over Nigerians most of whom continue to struggle and suffer needlessly.

The group emphasised Olawunmi’s submission that the sponsors of insecurity are here in Nigeria, well known and have been Untouchable.

“ Egbe Omo Yoruba North America (EOYNA) highly Commends and thank Commodore Olakunle Olawunmi , a Retired Distinguished Naval Officer for his COURAGE in speaking out at great PERSONAL RISK. Already, his Reputation and Integrity is being assaulted on Social Media platforms.

“But he should feel assured that many Nigerians and especially Yoruba People are PROUD of him for finding his Voice at a time when practically All Nigerians have lost theirs. History will Remember him for this”, the group stated.

Olawunmi   was quizzed for several hours on Tuesday following his decision to honour an invitation from the Military Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), Abuja.

It was gathered that the former Naval Officer arrived at the agency’s office in company with his lawyers –Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) and Abubakar Marshall.

It would be recalled that Olawunmi’s invitation followed recent explosive interview he granted Channels Television in which he accused the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration of refusing to probe high profile politicians whom Boko Haram terrorists named as their sponsors.

The group said it was remarkable for his Olawunmi’s candour and his no-holds-barred revelations which peeled away the layers of lies which have shrouded the bewildering insecurity that has enveloped Nigeria over the last several years.

It also said that though the menace started under previous administrations, it has spread like wild fire to become unmanageable with the present government.

According to EOYNA, the revelations by Olawunmi have confirmed the worst fears of some Ethnic Nationalities in Nigeria that the murderous rampages of kidnappings and dispossession of lands in the Middle Belt and Southern parts of the Country are part of a larger sinister Agenda of Ethnic and Radical Religious Domination of the Taliban variety being pursued by some elements In Sharia North.
