Shettima presents staff of office to Emir of Shani

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State has urged traditional  rulers to continue to foster unity and peaceful coexistence among their domains.

Governor Shettima made appeal while presenting First Class Staff of Office to the Emir of Shani, Alhaji Nasiru Muhammadu Mailafiya. at  his palace in Shani on Wednesday.

Shettima said “on behalf of the government and People of Borno State congratulate you appointment and presentation of first class staff of office”.

“The late Emir of.Shani, Alhaji Muhammadu Mailafiya, has contributed to the development of education in the state, as teachers, administrator, as well as development of his domain and state in general.  I therefore, urge you to emulate your late father”, the Governor said.

He also said:  “My administration accorded priority to the traditional institution, as custodian of our value and culture and Nadir. Mailafiya is the 8th emir and his appointment was based on merit. ”

Earlier in his speech,  the Commissioner of Local Government and Emirate  Affairs,  Alhaji Adamu Lawan, said the administration  of Governor  Kashim Shettima has contributed  to grassroots  development  through  construction  and reconstruction  of palaces of Emirs of Shani,  Biu,  Askira and Gwoza.

He called on the Emir to work for the people of his domain and people of the State.

Speaking, the Emir of Shani, Alhaji Nasiru Mailafiya, said: “The journey to the attainment of the present status of the first class of Shani Emirate would not have been achieved or realized but for purposeful leadership of present government “.

He called for peaceful coexistence among the people of his domain, the state and the entire nation and urged politicians to play the game according to the rulesin the forthcoming general election.

Appreciating Governor Shettima, Emirs and all those that witnessed the occasion, Mailafiya prayed for Journey mercies and safe trip back to their respective destinations.
