Relocation of LG: Allow peace to reign, Ekiti govt tells community

Ekiti State government has advised the people of Eda Oniyo to allow peace to reign to enable the committee set up by the state government to work out modalities for the relocation of Ilejemeje local government to the town perform its assignment.

The deputy governor, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, gave the advice while receiving a delegation of Eda Oniyo community in his office in Ado- Ekiti.

Otunba Egbeyemi said the Supreme Court has done its own job and that it is the responsibility of the state government to implement the decision of the court.

According to him, it is the duty of the people of Eda Oniyo not to do anything that would distract the committee from carrying out its duty and charged the traditional ruler, Oba Awolola to prevail on the people to keep the peace.

“I want to assure you that the committee will do its job and submit its report to the Governor, while the state executive council will also look into the the report,” he added.

Earlier, Oba Awolola had thanked the state government for the setting up of the committee to work on the relocation saying the community was anxiously waiting for the execution of the Supreme Court judgement.

Oba Awolola stated that already the community had secured some buildings for the take off of the council and that the people were anxious to receive the council officials.

He promised that his people valued peaceful co existence and would not do anything that could make the opportunity slip from them.
