PTD-NUPENG Opens Zonal Office Complex In Enugu

The Petroleum Tanker Drivers, PTD branch of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers,NUPENG ,Portharcourt zone held the grand opening of its zonal office complex at Emene Enugu.

The complex which is located on the Enugu -Abakaliki section of the Enugu-Cameroon borders Expressway of the trans African highway,incorporates a Secretariat building and a Guest House.        In his address of welcome,the Zonal Chairman of the Portharcourt zone of the PTD, Comrade Chief Peter Muodebelu,fondly called Onwa,paid glowing tribute to President Mohammed Buhari and labour minister just as he poured lavish encomiums on the chief  host ,Rt Hon Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi whose government he described as very labour friendly,even as he officially welcomed effusively all member and guests to the event.

Onwa,as the PTD Zonal Chairman is better known as,honoured especially the Chairman of the occasion who doubles as the National President of NUPENG, Comrade Prince William Akporeha as well as all the national officers of NUPENG, PTD, NARTO and associated organizations.

He greeted especially the traditional ruler of the host Ujodo community,HRM Igwe Gabriel Oku,the Ochuluoha 2 of  Mbulu Ujodo and his Emene counterpart,HRH,Igwe Felix Ugwu.

Onwa went down memory lane tracing the origin of the PTD to 1983 as well its chequered journey to erecting a zonal secretariat which was sited in Enugu as a central point to serve all parts of the Portharcourt  zone.

He solicited the support and cooperation of members to take the branch to a higher level even he appealed for financial support equipment of the new complex and for allied services.

Lending his voice to that of the Chairman ,Comrade Barr Oliver EkwuemeSecretary of the organizing committee for the event lauded the zonal chairman for his onerous efforts which has engendered in the monumental achievements record midway into tenure such as  the project being commissioned.

In his words, and on behalf of the Committee, Ekwueme said inter alia, “he(Chief Peter Muodebelu,Onwa),is a man after our heart”.

This event was graced by the following stakeholders,dignitaries,stakeholders and the general public including,Sen Obinna Ogba,Chief Joseph Okafor,MD Jezco Group,Sir Daniel N.Chukwudozie,MD,Dizzy Group,Hon Dayyabu Garga,2nd Deputy National Chairman,PTD, Comrade Dr. Otunba DalimonOladiti,JP,PTD National Chairman,Comrade Olawole Afolabi,Gen Secretary NUPENG, Comrade Prince Akporefa,President NUPENG,among many other guests.

The opening of the complex named PTD house also featured award investiture to distinguished stakeholders amid heavy feasting backed by traditional drumbeats and other musical displays.
