Police parade 7 officers for misconduct in Rivers

.Kill 4, arrest 3,  members of cult group who murdered DPO

Seven Police Officers were on Tuesday paraded for alleged professional misconduct in Rivers State, The Daily Champions reports.

 

The Officers were accused of allegedly extorting N50,000 from a social media influencer, who posted a viral video of his allegations on TikTok.

 

Parading the officers at the Police headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers Police Commissioner, CP, Nwonyi Emeka reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to instill discipline among officers.

 

CP Emeka warned that crime and criminality knows no status, “whether you are a Police or civilian.” He said more disciplinary procedure will be taken on the officers at the end of investigation.

 

The Police Commissioner also disclosed that Operatives of the command have killed four, and arrested three members of the Iceland Cult group led by one Gift David Okpara Okpolowo, aka General 2Baba, who were declared wanted for being responsible for the killing and beheading of a Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in Ahoada East LGA of the state, SP Bako Angbashim.

 

He said, “On 10th September,2023 acting on  actionable intelligence that Iceland cultists/Kidnappers  led by David Okpara aka 2Baba and his gang who  murdered DPO, SP Bako were in their hideout in Odiemudie, community Ahoada East

 

“On 10th September 2023 at about 1030hrs, actionable intelligence revealed that, gang of notorious Iceland cultists, armed robbery suspects and kidnappers led by one Gift David Okpara Okpolowo, aka 2-baba, who led his notorious gang to brutally murder SP Bako Angbashim, DPO Ahoada on 8th September 2023, were in their hideout at Odiemudie Forest, Ahoada-East LGA.

 

“When our men stormed the forest, the hoodlums who were battle ready to inflict more injury and casualty on Police, immediately engaged the operatives in fierce gun battle, during which four of the notorious hoodlums, who are yet to be identified, sustained fatal gunshot injuries while others escaped into the forest, three suspects were arrested and a locally made pistol recovered from them.

 

“The four notorious suspected criminals who sustained serious injuries were rushed to the UPTH for medical attention but were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. Operation still ongoing to be sustained, efforts to arrest the notorious gang leader and other members of his gang.”

 

CP Emeka also confirmed the arrest of three suspects for killing a young man in Abua-Odual LGA of the state.

 

“Following credible intelligence, Policemen attached to Abua/Odual Division arrested one Odumughan Supa (aka Last Market), Kebin George, (aka lecturer) and Odeamuodi Isaac Isikima (aka original) all male from Obarany community in Abua/Odual LGA of Rivers State, for the murder of one Progress Ezuo ‘m’ and harvested his male organs at the community.

 

“The suspects who flee from the community were arrested and transferred to SCID for discrete investigation.”

 

Furthermore, the CP disclosed that Operatives of the command also arrested a notorious cultist, Bariziga Kpone with one AK47 rifle, with breech number, 32096 without magazine, which he tried selling at B-Dere Community in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State,

 

He added that one Thankgod Gbarene was also arrested for robbery at Deeyor Kira Community in Tai LGA, while two car thieves, Chibuike Iruaha and Michael Ibe where apprehended at Igwuruta in Ikwerre L.G.A of the state, together with their arms.
