Piracy: Nollywood veteran advocates death penalty for offenders

A veteran and popular actor in the Nollywood industry, Chief Amaechi Muonago, has advocated for capital punishment for those involve in piracy adding that they are wicked set of human beings.

Speaking during the 17 years anniversary of the Onitsha zone of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, held at Royal Paradis hotel, Obosi, near Onitsha, Anambrarians state, he stated that piracy has refused to be flushed out from the society.

” It has been there for ages in Hollywood and we have been managing it since despite efforts but due to the type of people we have in government it is still there”

” It is criminal to allow it, left for me, i don’t mind capital punishment, so that people will stop that, a lot of people have been arrested, but later have their ways.”

He described entertainment industry as a good profession adding, “if any of my children go into it, ,it is a good buziness,”

“My colleagues that are celebrating 17 years anniversary, not when we started anyway, but this hazardous things happening to us, piracy, kidnapping, unknown gunmen, sit-at-home and covid-19 and we are surviving, we give glory to God.”

On his mentors he said, “my mentors apart from God is late Samuel Efe,Sam loco,we lost him but each time I remember him,I almost cry, when you talk of love,it is embedded in him”

“He only bites to educate you and others around him, you must never regret being with him, ordinary discussion, he will call you back and said, my friend, what did you learn, his humility is second to none,”

“If he has #10,000 in his pocket and you respect yourself and stay with him, he doesn’t mind finishing the money just to make you happy”.

On the Anambra state gubernatorial  election he said ” I congratulate everybody that actually took a bold step except one or two people who I will not like to mention names,they thought they will carry the whole world on their head, forgetting that it is like a sports, today, Anambrians are happy, Soludo emerged, he actually  worked for it, those that assisted him,I say bravo,I have my main Man too, God knows why he didn’t win, ike I said, I don’t want to mention names,we have all taken it as a sports man,there is another tomorrow.”

On his advice  to anambrarians. “they should be law abiding,listen to the leaders, as long as you are not comparing urself with them.as subjects, let them rule us, at times, it inters into their skull they don’t remember those that voted them.”

Earlier in her speech, the coordinator of the zone, Mrs Chinyelu Esther Anyaegbunam, lamented that social media has taken over the work of her members and urged for financial assistance for production of movies by members.

She also solicited for accommodation since they stay on rented building that gulps about .#4million naira yearly.
