Pandemonium Breaks Out in Afor Awkunanaw Market Enugu

The Afor Awkunanaw market and adjoining shops on Agbani Road adjacent to the 103 Battalion barracks was thrown into confusion at 3pm on the dot.
People were running from all directions with most of them not aware of the cause of the rumpus.
However,most surmised that it would not be unconnected with the Ghost Monday ordered by IPOBwhich though suspended was observed in many places.
According to deep market sources word had filtered in that those who observed the Ghost mMonday in breach in the Ogbete and Aria markets had been attacked by unidentified persons with some shops and stalls torched.
On account of this those had opened their stalls at Afor Awkunanaw quickly beat a fast retreat leading to traders and shoppers scampering for safety.
Security at the Army barracks gate was beefed up though the soldiers did not come out
There has been no fatalities or arson here.
Efforts to get the PPRO Dan Ndukwe did not yield any fruits as his phone rang severally without any respinse
