Osun Govt to commence free mobile surgical medical outreach for residents

Osun State government has announced plans to commence a quarterly free mobile surgical and medical outreach across the nine federal constituencies of the state.

 

The outreach which was recently approved by Governor Ademola Adeleke is set to begin on Wednesday, 15th of February, 2023 in Iwo Federal Constituency.

 

The Imole Surgical and medical outreach is aimed at expanding the quality health coverage to the people of Osun State and especially rural dwellers.

 

According to a statement by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed on Monday, each edition of the medical outreach will benefit over 2000 persons in each federal constituency in  every quarter where the exercise will be taking place for two days in the constituency.

 

The statement reads in part, “the programme which will be coordinated by the Osun State University Teaching Hospital will be held in State Hospitals in the Iwo, Ede, Ikire, Ila Orangun, Ikirun, Okuku, Ile-Ife, Ilesa, and Ipetu-Ijesa on designated dates.

 

“Surgeries covered by the free mobile surgical and medical outreach include cataracts, Pterigium, Hernia, Hydrocele, Lipoma, Keloids, and some swellings  on the body.

 

“Medical conditions like hypertension, diabetes, malaria, cough, tuberculosis, and other diseases will also be treated by a team of medical practitioners assembled by the state government to make the quarterly programme a huge success.

 

“The Governor will flag off the Imole free mobile Surgical and medical outreach on Wednesday 15th of February, 2023 in Iwo Federal Constituency while other constituencies will follow immediately.”

 

The schedule across federal constituencies are as follows:

  1. Iwo (flag off and care) – 15th/ 16th February
  2. Ila Orangun – 22nd/ 23rd February
  3. Ile-Ife –  1st/ 2nd March
  4. Ede-  8th and 9th March
  5. Ikirun – 15th/16th March
  6. Ilesha – 22nd/ 23rd March
  7. Ikire – 29/30th March
  8. Ipetu Ijesha – 5th/6th April
  9. Osogbo – l2th/13th April
