Ohanaeze condemns assassination of  late Dora Akunyili’s husband, Chike,  driver and escort

Ohaaeze Ndigbo has condemned the gruesome murder of Prof Chike Akunyili by some unknown persons yesterday describing it  as very horrific and worrisome.

According to Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia,,Ohanaeze National Publicity Secretary, this  and other such killings happening in Igboland are at a variance with Igbo culture and quite  alien to the entire South East zone.

He said that Igbo people are identified with upholding the sanctity of human l life and not known for wanton killings, pointing out that the development began early April and has continued with gruesome assassination of Prof Ndubuisi of SEDI,Enugu.

Ogbonnia stated further that this worrisome development calls for an introspective look and dialogue with some segment of the society with a view to inculcating and instilling in the young ones about the time honoured reverence for human life among the Igbo people.

While not  pointing accusing fingers at anybody or group he expressed the hope that the security agencies will be able to act swiftly and arrest the assassins as they did in other recent cases

He said  that “it is a great shock to the entire Igbo race especially those who knew the man,a an easy going gentleman and medical practitioner  of a flourishing medical centre in Enugu. It is very bad”
