No court action against Matawalle – Investigative Journalist

Recent reports claiming that a lawsuit has been filed against the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, at the Federal High Court in Abuja have been debunked by an investigative journalist.

The journalist, following visits to multiple courts in Abuja, confirmed that no such case exists, raising concerns about the credibility of the allegations.

The rumors originated from accusations made by Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, who alleged that Matawalle sponsored banditry during his tenure.

The journalist criticized the lack of specifics in the allegations, noting the absence of court names, judges, or registrars, and termed the supposed lawsuit as “ridiculous.” He emphasized that Matawalle had not received any legal notice regarding such a suit.

In a further development, human rights activist Abubakar Dahiru filed a lawsuit alleging Matawalle’s involvement in banditry, which the journalist described as a desperate attempt by Governor Lawal to undermine Matawalle’s rising political profile amid a potential cabinet reshuffle by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The journalist urged the public to remain skeptical of information disseminated by Governor Lawal, suggesting that he may be attempting to discredit Matawalle to block his reappointment as minister. He cautioned that Governor Lawal’s tactics reflect a broader strategy to damage the reputation of a political rival.
