NASS Member distributes N180 million worth of Drugs ,Equipment free to Constituents

 

…assures Health Technology students of partnership

The Member representing Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency Ebonyi State in the House of Representative Abuja Hon Chinedu Ogah ,has distributed free Medical Drugs and Health Equipments worth N180 million to  his constituents geared towards attaining Universal Health Coverage policy .

 

In the same vein , Hon Ogah has pledged to assist New students of Blessed Martins International Institute of Science /Technology (BMIIST) Amagu Ikwo  Ebonyi State in their quest to  attain Technological advancement in health education.

 

The Federal Lawmaker made the assertion at the weekend  on the occasion of the 5th Matriculation ceremony of the Institute held at Ohatekwe  Amagu .

 

According to him,”we have attracted N180 million worth of Drugs and Equipments , distributed to all Health Centers located in both Ikwo and Ezza South Local Governments Councils of Ebonyi State”

 

Hon Ogah who was Special Guest on the occasion urged the matriculating students to strive and uphold the moral values  of the Institute and shun negative vices such as cultism, truancy ,indiscipline etc.

 

He assured the students of his commitment to assist them in their quest to attain Technological advancement stating “the best students that will graduate in the Department of Community Health and Pharmacy Technician Departments would be employed in any Agencies of their Choice”

 

Ogah said that the drugs were attracted by him for distribution to his constituents.

 

Earlier Governor David Umahi represented by the State Commissioner for Education Dr Sunday Nwangele, commended the Proprietress of the Institute for its establishment ,stating that the State has been delisted from Educational Disadvantaged State to Educational Functional State .

 

“I assure you that Government would continue to provide an enabling environment for education and other endeavours to strive in the State ”

 

In an address the Proprietress of the Institute Mrs Mary Chinedu Ogah, stated that within the last five years of the Institute existence ,numerous infrastructural developments have been constructed.

 

“To attest to the fruits of our Labour, the institute have graduated intakes of our 2017/2018 Set that scored 99 percent  performance in their National examination”

 

“I expect the students while studying here to shun indiscipline, blackmail and other sexual immorality, examination malpractices, any student caught while indulging in any of this acts would be expelled”

 

Addressing the matriculants, the Rector Mr Idris Umar Farouq, enjoined them to strive for excellence and work hard  to attain Laurels for themselves and for the Institution.

 

“I would like to remind matriculating students that the primary aim in coming to this Institute is to go through your chosen academic programmes and graduate with flying colours ”

 

Highlights of the event was the official induction of 421 matriculants into the Institute and the unveiling of multi-million naira Ultra Modern Laboratory /ICT Complex named after the Speaker of the House of Representative Hon Femi Gbajiabiamila witnessed by his Senior Special Assistant on Legislative Matters Mr Nnana Igbokwe.

 

The occasion was witnessed by dignitaries and major education stakeholders including the Institute Rector Mr Idris Umar Farouq, the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Education Dr Sunday Nwangele, the Traditional Ruler of Amagu Ikwo Kingdom Eze Dominic Aloh, parents of matriculating students , the academia and a broad spectrum of the society among others.

 

It would be recalled that the Blessed Martins International Institute of Science/Technology Ohatekwe Amagu Ikwo, was established on 4th May 2017, and has Five Departments namely Community Health, Health Laboratory Technician, Health Information Management, Pharmacy Technician and Environmental Health Technician.
