Mutfwang launches 15 Tin City digitize metro buses in Jos

Fifteen Tin City digitize metro buses procured by Plateau State Government for ease of transportation within Jos and Bukuru metropolis have commenced operation in earnest.

This is another milestone taken by the government aimed at transforming the transportation sector as they earlier unveiled 20 Toyota Sienna and two coaster buses for commuters ease of movement between Jos and Abuja route.

Daily Champion reports that, the 15 diesel metro buses are operating a free services between Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

It was also confirmed that citizens will henceforth have to acquire a metro card at the cost of N3,000 in which each card comes pre-loaded with N1000 worth of trips.

While commissioning the buses on Tuesday at Old Government House Chapel Rayfield, Governor Caleb Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment towards transforming the livelihood of Plateau citizens.

“We have procured 15 state-of-the-art MAN-Diesel buses, a move aimed at mitigating the costs of intra-city travel and providing a respite from the daily transportation challenges our commuters face.

“We are ushering in an era of digitized travel, aligning with the global shift towards cashless transactions for the convenience of our passengers.

“Safety and oversight are the cornerstones of our transportation network. To this end, we have integrated comprehensive video monitoring systems with audio/video feeds on each bus. This measure guarantees the safety of our passengers and instills a culture of accountability and transparency within our operations”, Mutfwang stated.

He confirmed that 120 people were already employed as the Tin City metro buses are expected to generate between 500 to 1000 job opportunities, fueling economic growth and fostering development across the state.

The commissioner, ministry of transport, Davou Gyang acknowledged that actualization of Tin City metro buses is testament of  Governor Mutfwang’s promises which translates into reality.

General manager, Plateau Express Service Limited, Samuel Gwot said, he hope has return to the street of Plateau when the Governor keyed into roads rehabilitation to ease the movement of vehicles.

Gwot revealed that the Terminus market has taken a new look and the work is still in progress as a result of inter agency collaboration with Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) and Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB).

There were goodwill messages from Senator Jonah David Jang, Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.Gabriel Dewan, Plateau Chief Judge, as well as the president Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, Gbong Gwom Jos, His Royal Majesty, Da Jacob Gyang Buba.
