Let’s shift the paradigm in rebuilding a rubost economic in Plateau-Governor Mutfwang

From Daniel Dauda, Jos

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has challenged citizens to shift the paradigm by doing things differently and maximize the opportunities at their disposal to rebuild the state economy.

Governor Mutfwang acknowledged that his administration is substantially degrading the activities of bandits in Wase grazing reserve which the land will set up for ranching.

“I firmly believe that Plateau State should not be ranked among the poorest states in Nigeria. Unfortunately, we are somewhere down that pecking order in the poverty index, and it’s simply because we haven’t harvested our opportunities.

“We must turn the advantages God has given us into wealth for our people. Some of the dimensions of our crisis — even the insurgency — I’m sure, will be addressed when we prosper economically”, Mutfwang stated.

The governor made the disclosure on Monday in Government House Little Rayfield during the inauguration of Plateau State economic advisory council alongside 5 newly permanent secretaries.

The economic advisory council which is being spearheaded by Ibrahim Purri, Governor Mutfwang said they have took their time to carefully select people we believe can add value to where the government are going. They come with diverse experiences.

Turning to the 5-newly permanent secretaries that were sworn in, Governor Mutfwang revealed this is the first time they conducted a thorough examination to determine the selection of permanent secretaries. He promised to reform civil service making it more rubost to enhance productivity.

“So we are going to be very deliberate, very intentional, in trying to raise the standard of governance in every ministry, department, and agency. We are going to provide leadership for this process of transformation. And this leadership will require character, integrity, and knowledge. You must add value to the office you’re posted to. You must add value to your own life. People will come to you, and you should be able to guide them.”

In another development, Governor Mutfwang host Czech Republic Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Mr. Zdenek Krejei as the governor assured readiness towards building a mutually beneficial relationship with Czech Republic in the area of education, technology, agriculture, mining among others.

“We look forward to exploring collaboration with the Czech Republic in all the key areas you have mentioned. In agriculture, we recognize that your country has achieved food security and undergone significant industrialization — perhaps even at a more affordable pace than parts of mainland Europe. That’s a model we are eager to learn from as we work to improve our own agricultural productivity.”
