Lagosians stand to benefit more says Sanwo-Olu after two-day retreat

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday said the cordial relationship between the executive and legislature in the State positioned it for great achievements.

The Governor made the remark at the end of a two-day retreat between executive and legislature in Lekki, Lagos.

Briefing newsmen after the parley, Sanwo-Olu noted the outcome of the meeting would make dividends of democracy even more accessible to the citizens.

In his words: “But more importantly, everyone of us knew fully we were on the same page with lines of delivery dividends of democracy to our people. Also we understood that we have different roles to play. Now we can complement everybody’s role.

“We discussed with our House of Assembly members how we can foster our relationship. Advises were given by our National House of Assembly members on how to build harmonious relationship between the legislative and the executives

“And on the executive side, for them and us to understand that at legislative side, what their demands are. So also at the end of the day, proper and good governance would be delivered to our good citizens. And that the really major take away of the last two days.

“We are lucky in Lagos because we have our political leadership that are in tune with us.  They counsel and advise us from their own wealth of experience. Most of them have been at the helm of affairs and offer useful advises that make us have good feedback from our citizens.

“I think for me to finish the take home for this retreat would take another two days. I really cannot express everything just in a few words. But the major highligt is that though there is a communique. I can tell you personally that some of the issues discussed among ourselves really border on the fact to note that it has been two days of real engagement, ideas sharing and such of various things put at the table. And it has been two days of relationship and bond building between various levels of government.

“From their various communities, what is being expected of us and how we can reach out to them. These are the synopsis of what has happened.  And from the legislative and executive side, we want our citizens to know that what the executive put forward is what they operate, and on the policies that have been initiated. We want to ensure we are in win win situation. During the last two days, there had been extensive negotiation and engagement,” Sanwo-Olu posited.
