In the ongoing campaign to secure the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming governorship primary, Katsina State Deputy Governor, Mannie Yakubu, has pledged to further uplift the standard of living of all Katsina people if he eventually gets the to ticket and wins the gubernatorial poll.

Yakubu was speaking at a press briefing in Katsina where his campaign organization headed by Ibrahim Tukur Jikamshi, Director General of Katsina State Investment Promotion Agency, had gone to solicit support for Yakubu’s emergence as APC flag bearer and Governor Aminu Masari’s successor in 2023.

The deputy governor said: “Given the opportunity, my guiding principles will be trust and integrity (Aminci and Nagarta) and above all, the fear of God. We will ensure adherence to moral and ethical standards as well as rely on integrity, competence and hardworking in governance.”

Continuing, Yakubu said: “The approach to my governance will ensure continuity of the Restoration Agenda of the present government, which I am part of and will focus on six pillars: education, agriculture, health, trade MSME development, security and social reforms.”

He submitted that following the economic and security challenges that had bedeviled the state and the nation with resultant economics slowdown and paucity of funds, “the situation calls for a disruptive thinking that will provide a sustainable solution capable of reversing the negative trends.”

According to him, having worked as the deputy governor harmoniously with Gov Masari for the last seven years, he was confident that he was eminently qualified for the governorship seat to bring to all Katsina people more dividends of democracy.

Earlier, Ibrahim Tukur Jikamshi, Director General, Katsina State Investment Promotion Agency, pledged that Yakubu would deliver on his promises and add more meaning to the lives of people of the state as he (Yakubu) improves on the achievements of the incumbent government on all key sectors of the state’s economy.

Jikamshi explained that Yakubu would “make a unique difference and make the mark” as he urged the party delegates and electorate to vote the deputy governor in the governorship primary and general polls.
