IWD: Be good mothers, love your children, NGO advises women

A non-governmental organization (NGO), Eskid Child and Community Initiative, has urged women to be good mothers and love their children.

The Founder of the organization, Pastor (Dr.) Oluwatoyin Ojenimi, made the plea in Surulere Local Government area of Lagos State in commemoration of  the International Women Day (IWD).

According to Pastor Ojenimi, the group was trying to stop waywardness in Surulere by trying to reach out to parents, “starting from Surulere, our locality and we have more than 80 women in attendance”.

On how women of such numbers were gathered for the occasion, Ojenimi explained: “l used the various platforms I belong to invite them. Women come from political groups and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).  From political groups, some came through my direct contact. l spoke to people personally. Some l met in church (RCCG) there and some are called so that they will hear more”.

Speaking further, Pastor Ojenimi said: “This International Women’s Day is an opportunity to further our mission of providing services that harmonize mind, body and spirit and at the same time honour the achievements of Nigerian women Located in the heart of Surulere, in a serene and calm environment”.

On the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day, which  is ‘Getting Digitally‘, she said: “That is why we invited one of our daughters to talk to women to learn computer so that they can  be competitive in the new world of digitalization.

“Everybody is doing online this or that.  Some of them take it as if it is nothing; you know now that bank is in online now; we want them to learn; we are going to organize a training for women so that they can know how to use their phones better so that they can take care of their businesses and communicate with the world on digital platform”, she said.

On domestic violence, she pointed out: “A lot of people cover up and they are dying in silence, most of the women, their blood pressure is high. They refuse to take their drugs Even if you are going to fast, make sure you check whether your blood pressure is okay. We must love ourself well; we must take care of our self; a lot of women have bone issues unknown to them, there doing the casual level bone denting[ some of them discovered  when you told them to buy this they will tell you  l don’t have money but if it is buy aso ebi they will buy.

“You will see a woman fall on the road she will die because the bone is weak and the blood pressure is high. Take care of yourself. The woman will take care of her husband and children for us to have a good home. We should take care of our self; that is why we brought the health part of it to take to them so that they can live long. We don’t want our women to keep dying at their prime to enjoy the fruit of their labour”, she further said.

Continuing, Pastor Ojenimi stated: “If you look at the last election, most of the officers you cannot see women, even the only woman that try to contest the governorship seat, she won but they used way to push her down. Personally l have experienced it. Men in Nigeria do not want women to be above them but they have to encourage us. We should observe that when we put a woman to manage the affairs the way we manage our home, we should put her there. Any directorate or any agency women are in charge, you see them striving hard, they have to encourage us; government should let more women to perform and function; let them give us space in governance”.

“My advice to every woman is that they should check their blood pressure. Ever women must buy  the small machine to check their BP before you go on a long journey and take your drugs so that you will be okay”, Pastor Ojenimi added.
