The General Officer Commanding (GOC, 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Oluremi Fadairo, has reaffirmed the Division’s resolve to sustain decisive military operations against separatist and criminal elements in the South-East.
Maj.-Gen. Fadairo, who also doubles as Commander, Joint Task Force South-East, Operation UDO KA, made this known on Monday while addressing participants of Army War College Nigeria, AWCN, Course 10/2026 during an operational theatre visit to Headquarters 82 Division, Enugu.
The study tour, which ran from Sept. 3 to Sept. 6, 2026, is a key component of the senior officers’ course.
The GOC stated that the security situation within the Division’s Area of Responsibility remains relatively stable and under control.
According to him, troops have continued to degrade the operational capabilities of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, the Eastern Security Network, ESN, and other criminal groups through intelligence-driven operations, aggressive patrols, and targeted clearance missions.
He said these efforts have dismantled criminal hideouts and restricted the freedom of action of the groups across the region.
Fadairo stressed that continuous operational assessment and intelligence exploitation are critical to eliminating residual threats.
He disclosed that preparations are underway for intensified dry-season operations under Operation EASTERN SANITY II, aimed at maintaining pressure and preventing the resurgence of criminal networks.
“The armed forces will continue to employ lawful and decisive measures against elements whose activities threaten national security,” he said.
The GOC urged the course participants to apply the operational insights gained to develop innovative strategies for tackling contemporary security challenges. He also emphasized the need for security forces to remain proactive and intelligence-led in protecting lives and property.
The visit featured tours of sectors’ Areas of Responsibility, a visit to the National War Museum, wargaming exercises, and presentations on the operational achievements and challenges of Operation UDO KA.
Participants were also briefed on ongoing peace-building efforts aimed at consolidating stability in the South-East.
