…As Ekpo backs indigenous ownership, vows to tackle operational challenges
Favour Ishember, Abuja
The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to creating an enabling environment for investors in Nigeria’s gas sector, assuring Axxela Group of support in resolving operational challenges hindering its activities.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, gave the assurance while receiving the Board and Management of Axxela Group, led by its Chairman, Mr. Nzan Ogbe, during a courtesy visit to his office earlier in the week.
Ekpo said the Ministry would continue to implement policies that encourage genuine investment, remove obstacles to business operations and promote the sustainable growth of the nation’s gas industry.
The Minister also welcomed Axxela’s transition to indigenous ownership, describing the development as a positive step that would strengthen the company’s capacity to mobilise local resources and investments in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic development agenda.
He expressed optimism that the company’s Nigerian ownership would deepen local participation in the gas industry and contribute significantly to expanding the sector’s role in national economic growth.
In his remarks, Axxela Group Chairman, Mr. Nzan Ogbe, commended the Minister for his leadership and support for the development of Nigeria’s gas industry.
Ogbe reaffirmed the company’s commitment to harnessing the country’s abundant natural gas resources to drive industrialisation, support transportation, expand domestic cooking gas utilisation and meet other critical energy needs across the economy.
He, however, appealed to the Ministry to intervene in addressing conflicting interests within the gas value chain, noting that the challenges continue to affect the company’s operations.
The Axxela chairman expressed confidence that stronger collaboration between the Federal Government and industry operators would accelerate investments, improve gas utilisation and strengthen Nigeria’s position as a leading gas-based economy.
For a better society
