Fear  of defeat grips Anambra  Assembly candidates over LP victory

Palpable fear has allegedly gripped non Labour Party, LP candidates eyeing Anambra State House of Assembly following the 25 February 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections in which LP swept the poll in both elections.

Recall that LP took two out of the three Senatorial seats and most of the Green House seats which has since the victory, put the non LP candidates in fear as the 11 March Governorship and House of Assembly elections approach.

A candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, who pleaded anonymity expressed fear that LP may continue in its victory as it is unstoppable pointing out that it is now the band wagon.

” His words, “My brother, there is problem, the way LP swept the State in the just concluded general elections has put fear into us even if we are the party on the ground. Nobody expected that LP would take over both the state and the entire Sourheat zone and beyond.

“I fear because it is like every body ‘ is Obidient’, including most of the candidates from other parties. On that day, 11 March, we will contest with the LP and others, it is not the issue of APGA being on ground but that every body wants Peter Obi and his party,” he stated.

Also reacting, a candidate of All Progressive Congress, APC, who also did not want his name in the print stated that he is sure of victory even if it is like the people in the State do not want APC in the State.

“It is a big shock to us that LP could sweep the poll in Anambra and most of the states, including the Federal Capital Territory and Lagos State. We will do our best on the 11 of March, there is no fear in trial, I am optimistic that I will win,” he assured.

Recall that Governor Charles Soludo, had prior to the last election, urged Anambra people to vote for APGA for smooth running of the State, adding that failure to do so may result in delay in passing some bills and endorsement of other state issues.
