Ex-police chairman, Anambra Commissioner, others commend Aduba on book launch

The former Commissioner of Police, ( CP )  Ikechukwu Ayo Aduba(Rtd) and currently the Anambra State Chairman of Vigilante Services, has been commended for his 3rd book launch, “Igboland in History And The Socio-Political Implications Of Onicha Ado N’Idu Origin Upto 2014”.

Making the commendation during  the book launch held at Sharon Hall GRA Onitsha, the former Chairman, Police Service Commission, Chief Simon Okeke and the State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Hon. C. Don Adinuba, said Aduba was a versatile police officer and historian.

The theme of the occasion, consisted of Onitsha Traditional origin and the Onicha Ado n’Idu origin, land, people and antiquity of Igbo kingship, institution as well as the Oru and Osu caste system, and the lamentable unacceptable place of the Igbo in Nigeria.

Prof. Johncliff Nwadike on reviewing the book with the name Igboland In History And The Socio-Political Implications Of Onicha Ado N’Idu Upto 2014,written by Ikechukwu Ayo Aduba(Rtd)i n the year 2021,published by Arise and Shine Publisher said that it has 7 Chapters and 191 pages.

“The theme include the People of Igboland,People of Onicha, Onicha and their neighbours, Origin through Archeological concepts,Igbo Enweghi Eze Concepts,Oru and Osu caste system in Igboland.

“He contributed controversies surrounding Igbo origin and migration, the economic act of Igbo people, agriculture, pottery ,iron work stressed that all these made Igbo and the world in very mysterious affairs.

“Highpoint of the work is the graphic presentation of Onicha, one of the biggest Community in Southeast Nigeria, divided into two, Inland and Enu Onicha Watershed and Fegge where the Indigenes resides.”

“He also stated that Onicha is well developed before the Europeans came which was stressed from the old Benin Empire.”

The Author. CP Aduba(Rtd) in his remarks said that“ It is indeed exhilarating to finally publish this book after grueling and painstaking research, in a bid to ensure that the final product represents an unbiased, robust, detailed and lucid account.

“Without an iota of doubt, I am fully aware that this book may be taken out of context, misinterpreted or misunderstood from its original intent and purpose, let me make it unequivocally clear that the goal here is not to undermine the reputation or integrity of anyone or group.

“In a nutshell, Igbo people were civilised even in the dim past with a functional economy, active religious life and earliest known technologies in metallurgy.”

“In the light thereof, we must wake up and realise that we are stronger together, better together and will achieve more together as Ndi-Igbo,I am confident that anyone who is open minded will see thus book quite informative and educating”.

“As a professional historian, i will state unequivocally that clinging to Ezechima tradition after the irrefutable evidence of Igboukwu archaeological excavation does not make any historical sense”,

“Posterity will not forgive the present generation for living a lie over the years, evidently, Onitsha was,is and will remain a typical Igbo society when all is given and taken history wise,” he added.

The Commissioner Of Information and Public Enlightenment, Hon. C Don Adinuba, said, “We have for years years been discussing the content and the central base of this book which i found to be intellectually driven and courageous.”

“The Government and the People of the State are happy to identify with books like this that speaks in the finest and intellectual tradition.”

“Anambra State in particular is committed in intellectual material, a home of Prof Kenneth Dike,Chinua Achebe, the first Novelist,Chike Obi,Olaide Equiano,the first African to write a book in 1789,Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and host of them.

Toiling with books committed to the growth of intellectual perspectives is a cardinal principle of this Government because it is consists of tourism and culture.”

”Ayo is an Ambassador of Nigerian Police with books on credit, each of them original and very courageous, that is important.

We recognised Aduba as one of the persons who have made the State, most peaceful State in Nigeria for eight years, as the Chairman of  Anambra Vigilante Group, he has done a great job”.

”Igbo language going into extinction is unfounded, they have been saying that since 25 years ago but it still exists, the threat is unfounded, “he added.

Earlier in his opening remark, the Former Chairman of Police Service Commission who is the Chairman of the occasion said that ” the former CP, Aduba happened to be one of the outstanding Police Officers identified by my special committee in the early period of my tenure as the Chairman Police Service Commission, when the Commission organised a talent hunt within the Nigeria Police Force.”

”And he was able to rise to the rank of Commissioner of Police prior to his retirement.

There is a saying that falsehood is repeatedly told overtime and remains unchallenged, it would assume the position of truth and there lies the main reason i believe why Ayo engaged in his crusade to correct centuries of apparent falsehood of the true history, Origin of Onicha Ado n’Idu.(MOI)”.

In their various remarks, Prof U.D. Anyanwu and Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, Igbo Spiritual leader, stated that the author was versatile and that was the reason he exceled in security issues and history.
